Thornbury and Yate MP Claire Young has made a statement responding to the announcement that the Post Office will be seeking to transition all 115 Crown Post Offices, including their branch in Yate, into new franchises.

The Labour Government's choice to hike inheritance tax on farmers is simply wrong. Farming families plough large sums into their farms to grow food for our tables, and most make very little for themselves. We need to be taxing the big landholders and landbankers, not small family-run farms.
Too many carers across the country are being unfairly punished by the Department for Work & Pensions for minor overpayments. At PMQs, Claire pressed the Prime Minister over their actions and raised the case of a former local police officer who's been caught up in this scandal.
Claire led a debate in Parliament on the impact of the closure of the A432 overbridge. She put several direct questions to the Minister about what the Govt was doing to speed up the work, support those affected, and prevent this happening again. Sadly, the Minister chose to duck them and offered little to reassure those living near the bridge or along nearby roads. Claire says this simply isn't good enough and will keep pushing for action.
