Claire Young Sets the Pace

Claire Young surrounded by a group of Lib Dem campaigners

Claire Young is the fresh voice we need for MP in a two horse race between the Lib Dems and the Conservatives.

Local Liberal Democrat champion Claire Young is determined to make 2024 the year our community gets the real change we deserve.

After years of Conservative neglect, people across our area are feeling let down. Later this year residents will get the chance to have their say – and elect a new MP for the Thornbury and Yate constituency. More and more people are saying it’s time for change, and planning to back Claire.

Claire said, “People on the doorstep are telling me they are angry that the Tories have neglected our local NHS services,  angry that the Tories are neglecting our environment and are still allowing sewage to be dumped in our rivers, angry that the Tories refuse to address the current cost of living crisis leaving ordinary people to feel the pinch, and angry that our local schools are being shortchanged – even when compared to other areas in our country. We must fight for more GPs, better access to NHS dentists, environmental protection for our rivers, economic policy that provides quality services while putting money back into the pockets of residents and proper funding for our local schools. There is a huge job to do, and I look forward to starting it!”

With Labour in a distant third place here, a Labour victory is not possible – The Labour Party makes this clear in its non-battleground seats document which includes Thornbury and Yate. The race to choose Thornbury and Yate’s next Member of Parliament is on – and it’s between Claire and the Conservatives.
