A letter from Kate and Jon to residents of Frampton Cotterell

Kate and Jon have written to residents in Frampton Cotterell West explaining their reasons for standing and why its important we keep Reform UK out here. In the letter, they write:

Dear Neighbour,

You can help us stop Reform UK getting a foothold in Frampton Cotterell.

A by-election for two councillor seats in the West Ward of Frampton Cotterell Parish Council has been called and will be held on Thursday 14th May.

We are writing to you as the two Liberal Democrat candidates for these seats in the hope that you will be able to support us with your votes in the election.

We both live locally and have backgrounds in improving things for local people. Kate is a swimming teacher of children and adults who has also worked in primary schools specialising in SEND. Jon is one of the district councillors for Frampton Cotterell Ward and is known for campaigning against large-scale speculative development in the Green Belt, against sewage pollution in our rivers, and for better public transport and roads. We pledge to work hard for the area and have the support of our MP, Claire Young.

Elections here are usually a close fight between the Liberal Democrats and the Conservatives, but this election is different. The only candidates in this election are ourselves and Reform UK, who have only put one candidate forward.

We don’t think the Parish Council should become a political game for Reform UK and their divisive and regressive policies. We think it should continue to work for all our community and not become a platform for national politics.

You can help us keep Reform UK out of Frampton Cotterell by supporting us with your two votes on Thursday 14th May.

Parish Council by-elections often have a low turnout, but that means that it’s even more important for your voice to be heard – this election is likely to be won or lost by a very small number of votes.
