The Lib Dem and Labour partnership administration have restored the value of vouchers provided to families during school holidays who receive free school meals during term time. The decision to cut the value of the vouchers was taken by the previous Conservative Council. They will once again be £15 per week per pupil. When the new council discovered that a 33 per cent cut had been imposed before the elections they rapidly moved to get the vouchers back to the previous value.

Cllr Claire Young - Leader of the Council - said:

“We were deeply concerned that some of our most vulnerable children were going to suffer especially considering the cost-of-living crisis and rising food costs. No child should go hungry during the summer holidays. We are relieved to restore the voucher value back to £15 per week.”
