Conservative promise blown out of the water
Conservatives in South Glos and national government have been promising Thornbury an upgraded Health Centre for years, at a cost of £10 million. That's just 0.01% of England's Health budget. But, disgracefully, the bid for this money was rejected in December 2018.
Liberal Democrats are demanding better.
We need this health centre because:
- North Bristol NHS Trust has one of the worst records in England for A&E waiting times - the health centre would take pressure off Southmead A&E and the Yate MIU.
- Some people with complex needs really struggle to travel far - if it’s inconvenient for you to get to Yate or Southmead, think about how hard it is for the less fortunate.
- The new centre was supposed to integrate health and social care. This would deliver better care for a lower cost, and nobody can complain about that.
So we're saying to the Department for Health...
Please Reconsider!
We, the undersigned, petition the Department for Health to overturn its decision to reject the funding application for the new Health Centre at Thornbury we've been promised for years.
