Claire Young, MP for Thornbury and Yate has spoken about her backing of Kate Andrews and Jon Lean, the Liberal Democrat Frampton Cotterell Parish Council By-Election candidates.

Writing in the Frampton Cotterell Focus newsletter she said,

"Like many of the villages across Thornbury and Yate constituency, Frampton Cotterell is a vibrant, thriving place to live and work – and a place with which I have strong connections.

"I first became a local councillor in 2007 representing the former Westerleigh ward. Then, when the ward boundaries changed in 2019 I was proud to represent the new, larger, Frampton Cotterell ward on South Glos Council. We must not let Reform UK win here, so I'm delighted that Kate and Jon have chosen to stand against them for seats on the Parish Council.

“I know them both well – Jon through our joint work as ward councillor colleagues and Kate through the work she does on SEND. They will be sensible, hard-working voices for Frampton Cotterell Parish Council and I do hope you will support them with both of your two votes on Thursday 14th May.”

We believe Frampton Cotterell Parish Council needs to be run for the benefit of all local people. There is no room for Reform UK's record of chaos and failure here.

Please support Kate, Jon and your Focus Team with your vote on Thursday 14th May.

Elections here are usually a close fight between the Lib Dems and the Conservatives but this election is different - it's a straight fight between your Lib Dem Focus Team and a candidate from Reform UK.

We believe Frampton Cotterell Parish Council is well run, works hard to benefit all residents in our community, and is valued by those residents. We've seen what happens when Reform UK councillors get elected: failure and chaos distract from the important services that councils deliver, resulting in tax-hikes, cut services and broken promises.

Using your two votes for Kate and Jon on Thursday 14th May will ensure Frampton Cotterell Parish Council is able to continue its important work, and will strengthen the council with an additional two sensible voices.

South Gloucestershire Liberal Democrats have announced their candidates for the upcoming Frampton Cotterell Parish Council By-Election.

Focus Team members Kate Andrews and Jon Lean are taking the fight to Reform UK on Thursday 14th May, to ensure that Frampton Cotterell Parish Council continues to be run for the benefit of all local people.

Kate is a mum of two amazing boys and lives locally in Frampton Cotterell. She teaches swimming to children as young as three years old, through to adults. She has also worked in a number of local primary schools specialising in SEND. She uses the knowledge, understanding and experience gained from these roles to engage positively with everyone she meets.

Kate is keen to give back to the community and feels that a role on the Parish Council would be an excellent way to achieve this.

Jon has lived locally in Coalpit Heath with his partner for 16 years and is currently one of the three district councillors for Frampton Cotterell ward.

Well known for his campaigning against large-scale speculative development in the Green Belt; for better local transport and roads; against sewage pollution in The Frome; and for his collaborative approach with residents, Jon believes that decisions that affect local people are best taken locally - hence his desire to serve Frampton Cotterell residents at Parish level.

If elected, Kate and Jon would join Focus Team colleagues David Goodwin and Tristan Clark as members of Frampton Cotterell Parish Council.

Please support Kate and Jon with your TWO votes on Thursday 14th May.
