Our Local Party Organiser, Glyn Ley, will be running a training and information event for all local Liberal Democrat members who are interested in knowing how we campaign and what it is YOU can do to get involved. This event is aimed at all South Gloucestershire Liberal Democrat members, old and new, and with any level of experience.
In May the West of England faces its first Metro Mayor election in the West of England, where we are campaigning to elect Stephen Williams. But we also have crucial elections for South Gloucestershire Council, town and parish councils in 2019, and then straight into the General Election campaign in 2020.
Every volunteer activity has an important role to play, however modest. With some assistance from some esteemed colleagues, including Glyn will be covering all the things it will take to win these crucial elections - from standing for election yourself right through to delivering leaflets or entering data onto a computer - and how every job plays its part in our campaign as a whole.
Thursday 2nd March, 6.30pm start
Eastwood Park, A38, Falfield, GL12 8DA
Tickets £35 per person including three course meal
South Glos Lib Dems' Annual Dinner will take place on Thursday 2nd March at Eastwood Park. We are delighted to be welcoming former Leader of the Liberal Democrats, Lord Menzies "Ming" Campbell, as our guest.
Ming served as Member of Parliament for North East Fife from 1987 to 2015 and was the Leader of the Liberal Democrats between 2006 - 2007.
He received a CBE in 1987; was appointed to the Privy Council in 1999 before being knighted in 2004 for his services to Parliament. He became a Companion of Honour in the 2013 Birthday Honours for public and political service. After stepping down from the House of Commons ahead of the 2015 General Election, he received a peerage in the 2015 Dissolution Honours, and was introduced to the House of Lords as Baron Campbell of Pittenweem.
We are also delighted to be joined by newly-selected Liberal Democrat candidate for the West of England Metro Mayor, Stephen Williams, who will be telling us about his campaign ahead of this crucial election on 4th May.
